Galway national schools finals .. overall winners were Brierhill and the winners of the Girls section are Scoil Ide salthill.  Numbers were high with a total of 28 teams representing their schools. More here.

The March blitz, held on 31 March, was won by Pete Morriss, with the astonishing score of 7/7 (particularly astonishing given some of the positions he got into). Second equal were Brendan Buckley and Jason Rawlinson, on 5/7. The grading prize was won – as so often this year – by Denis Ruchko on 4½.

Congratulations to the winners of this years Galway club “Rapid chess” competition .. in first place was Pete Morriss (13pts.) followed by Jason Rawlinson (12pts.) and in 3rd place was the youngest member of the club, Denis Ruchko, who got 3rd place (11pts.).
